Taking a screenshot
We will commonly ask people to send us screenshots of error messages or other problems so that we can more easily diagnose their issues. Here are a couple ways to take a screenshot:
1. The simplest way to take a screenshot is by hitting the Print Screen button on your keyboard, commonly labeled "PrtScr" or "Prt Sc". Sometimes it is tied as function key on another key (usually in blue print on the dell laptops) so you would have to hold the function key down while hitting PrtScr. After hitting the print screen button you just need to paste the screenshot in an email and send or into an application like Paint and save it out.
2. Another way to take a screenshot that some people might like is by using the built in snipping tool in Windows. On the bottom left of your screen, open the start menu and start typing Snipping Tool (do not hit enter). It should pop up in the search results. Click it.
A small window will open with the options New, Mode, Delay, Cancel, and Options. Select the mode you want and then hit New. For rectangle mode, drag your cursor around what you want to take a screenshot of. For window mode, just click the window you want to copy. Fullscreen mode will automatically take a screenshot of you full screen. Free form mode is free draw and is probably not the best option here.
Once you take your screenshot it will open up a window where you can edit it or just save it out.
